Their Story
We began working in East Asia in 1988 developing opportunities for Bible translation among the minority language groups there, conducting linguistic research, and developing relationships with government and academic agencies. In the following years we focused our work on a particular people group of East Asia. We partnered formally with the language research office of the local government's Minorities Affairs Commission to produce a dictionary with parallel sections for English, the majority language, and the language of the minority people group.  This gave us the opportunity to live in the heart of the people group and learn the language well. Eventually, with a few native speakers, we undertook a project translating the Bible into a major dialect of the people. group. The New Testament along with several Old Testament books were published in print and audio forms, and a first draft of the entire Old Testament was completed.  Just before Covid hit, we relocated to the US and have since then been working with Bible translation consultants to revise the remaining books of the Old Testament. We have become Bible translation consultants ourselves and assist other translators in checking and improving their translations for publication.
