I am Sarah Powell and I am on staff in Newport News, Virginia and work primarily at Christopher Newport University. I am passionate about seeing lost students find hope and freedom in the gospel. In particular, CNU is a launching pad for many future leaders, doctors, politicians and business people. One of my greatest desires is to see God shift the course of students' lives as they learn what it looks like to be Christ-centered laborers, whether in their profession or in their community. It is a great privilege to equip students to share the living hope I have found in Jesus with those who know him and those who don't. 

PRAY
  • Pray for me to be rooted and grounded in my own relationship with Christ.  Pray that I would abide in His word.  Pray that I would pray quickly and often as I lead. 
  • Pray for Matt & I to be unified as we partner together in ministry. (Matt at PCC & I with Cru at CNU.) Pray that we would strive to love and serve each other well. 
  • ​Pray for our local college students to know and love Jesus, and to be available and curious as to how God might use them for His glory and their good.

OUR STORY

Matt has had several short-term and intern global ministry related trips with PCC .   He began working for Cru in 2015.  In November 2019, Matt and Sarah married.  After working on staff with Cru together in Richmond at VCU, they moved to Newport News where they now work at CNU and PCC.
